The South Korean giant company Samsung hosted a Galaxy Unpacked 2017 event on 23rd August 2017, at New York city. In this event company unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Phablet to the world which is a successor of last year’s Note 7. Note 7 is ill-fated and unsuccessful device of the Samsung because of it’s heating and exploding batteries issue.

Mr. Ben Wood, Head of research at CCS Insight, said

It’s a testament to Samsung’s stubbornness and determination that the launch of the Note 8 cements its position as the leading  android smartphone maker, drawing a clear line under the Note 7 problems.

In April 2017, Samsung had launched their flagship device S8 & S8+. Note 8 looks similar to the S8 & S8+ but there are some improvement over both the devices. Note 8 has a slightly bigger screen, more RAM, dual camera setup and S Pen stylus.

Price & Offers

Note 8 is expensive device ever launched by Samsung. In the US, Note 8 is priced at  930 (approx 59,561) And in the UK priced at 869 (approx   71,171) for the base model. The company doesn’t announce the price of the Galaxy Note 8 for the Indian market, still the pre order already started for the selected market. It will be available in Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Deep Sea Blue and Maple Gold colors variants.

Samsung also announced some offers with Note 8. Consumers who purchase Note 8 before September 24, 2017, they will get their choice of a free Samsung Gear 360 camera, Samsung 128GB EVO+ memory card and Fast Wireless Charging Convertible.

S Pen

In Note 8, The S Pen makes the perfect sense. The S Pen has a 0.7 mm that’s fine and precise like your favorite pen, so you can draw and write with accuracy and if you need to undo, just press the button at the side to turn S Pen into an eraser.

Draw your own emojis, make animated GIFs, or write handwritten messages on photos. Express your drawing skills by artwork tools, brushes and colors. Write screen off memo, you don’t have to wake up device. Pin it to always on display and save it directly. Markup article, switching between two apps, magnify whenever u need, it support direct translations too.

Samsung DeX & Bixby

Turn your phone into a PC like experience through Samsung DeX Station. Things are just faster and better when it has a full screen size keyboard and a big monitor. With Note 8 and DeX station, only need to connect to a monitor, keyboard and mouse and make that place in to your office.

Bixby is a Samsung’s own virtual assistant. It’s smarter way to use device. Open up your camera and use Bixby to get information on landmarks, places to eat, and translations of the menu. Get what you need, when you need it without having to open even a single app.

Security & Others

With Iris scanner, Fingerprint scanner and Face Recognition Unlocking device with eyes, face and finger and with Samsung Knox protecting your bio metric data as well as safeguarding what’s on your phone.

Galaxy Note 8 and S Pen are rated IP68. It means they both are protected against dust and water resistant. Water resistant up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes.

Performance

Note 8 is powered by the Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor in US. Outside the US, including India, Note 8 is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 8895 chipset. First time Samsung comes with a huge 6GB RAM and 64/128/256GB storage varient which is expandable upto 256GB. This device runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system. The company has also announced to provide the Android 8.0 Oreo update in upcoming months.

Heavy games with high end graphics feel light on this device because it supports Vulkan API. With Vulkan making fast connections between computing and graphics, what you get is beautifully smooth performance that doesn’t drain your battery as much.

Camera

First time, Samsung company comes with dual rear camera setup which includes two 12MP sensors. One is a wide angled lens with f/1.7 aperture, another includes a telephoto 2x zoom lens with f/2.4 aperture to let you zoom in clearly and both the cameras have OIS (optical image stabilization) to produce photos that come out beautifully steady even when camera shakes.

There is a Dual Capture mode to take two pictures simultaneously. This phone also features Live focus for taking beautiful bokeh shots where you make your subject stand out and if you’re not entirely satisfied, you always have the option to adjust the level of background blur afterwards.

Rear camera supports Food mode, Pro mode, Panorama and Slow Motion. At front side there is an 8MP camera with smart Auto Focus and f/1.7 aperture for better selfies.
