The US-based online retail giant Amazon has recently launched Amazon Prime premium service in India. The service will be available to customers in over 100 Indian cities.

With this, Indian customers in over 100 cities can enjoy unlimited free one-day and two-day delivery on lakhs of eligible products.

This is a premium service similar to the Flipkart First. Basically, the Prime subscription programme of Amazon is aimed to woo customers with free one-day delivery as the ecommerce firm looks to stay ahead of competitors like Flipkart and Snapdeal.

How to subscribe to Amazon Prime membership program in India?

Amazon Prime will be available for a free trial period of 60 days to allow Indian shoppers to experience the Prime subscription programme.

After that, they can choose to sign up for a year by paying an introductory annual subscription fee of Rs.499 for a year. Later, the subscription fee might be increased to Rs.999.

Non-members will continue to have the option of expedited delivery on their orders with the usual delivery charges where applicable.

Benefits of Amazon Prime premium service

Apart from the free one and two-day delivery, Prime members in 20 cities including Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore will have the option to choose same day delivery / discounted morning delivery / discounted scheduled delivery at Rs. 50, free standard delivery with no minimum order value, early access to lightning deals (Prime Early Access) and exclusive lightning deals for Prime members (Prime Exclusive Deals).

(Mostly these deliveries cost Rs. 150).

Amazon Prime Video

In future, Prime Video will also be launched, which include Amazon original TV series and movies besides Indian and global content.

Through Prime Video, Amazon will provide access to its original content including various drama series such as Hand of God and Mad Dogs, besides television content that the e-commerce company aggregates from TV broadcasters.
