Chain of BSNL Pacts: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has tied up with Facebook, MobiKwik & Disney India to popularize the internet and its value added services among Indian customers.
Purpose: To compete with private telecoms like Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, etc., which are currently dominating the Indian telecom market.
The pacts were signed to commemorate the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) on 17th May 2017.

BSNL Pacts
Pact 1: Disney India + BSNL = Online Gaming Services
Now with Disney India, the BSNL will provide premium online gaming services to its mobile customers.
Pact 2: MobiKwik + BSNL = BSNL mobile wallet
Soon, new BSNL Wallet will be developed, operated and issued by MobiKwik and distributed and marketed by BSNL. The wallet will be available exclusively to BSNL customers in India.
The BSNL wallet will be a semi-closed wallet to facilitate ease of payment and also to sell BSNL products exclusively in the wallet.
With the new partnership, MobiKwik will also receive reseller rights, wherein the company will enable digital sale of BSNL SIM cards through its app and website, and sell BSNL products exclusively in the wallet.

Pact 3: Facebook + BSNL = Express Wi-Fi Program
As per the pact with Facebook, BSNL will provide backhaul bandwidth to Facebook at a preferential rate for Express Wi-Fi Program and will promote internet connectivity in rural areas and to bridge digital divide among people.
Under the Express Wi-Fi Program, Facebook offers internet facility via public hotspots to users in rural parts of the country, in partnership with telecom operators.

Pact 4: Data Infosys + BSNL = Hosted Email Services
BSNL has launched “Hosted Email Services” for customers viz. Govt. organizations / PSUs/ MSEs/ NGOs/ Corporates in partnership with Data Infosys Ltd., which is ideal for Enterprise Businesses.
