Govt launch Divyang Sarathi app for Divyangjans

To empower Divyangjans, the Central Government has launched app Divyang Sarathi to uplift & help them. Really, its a great initiative towards Divyangs.

The app will provide relevant information about disabilities, schemes, job opportunities and many more in a simple & easy way.

The beta version of app was launched by Mr. Thaawarchand Gehlot, the Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, in New Delhi on 26th September 2017 to help disabled people.

Divyang Sarathi

  1. Will be available in Hindi as well as English
  2. Can be accessed by any Android smartphone
  3. Will be available on Google Play Store
  4. Developed by the two Assistant Secretaries (Mr Anunaya Jha and Miss B. Susheela) in the DEPwD.

After downloading & installing, the app can work with or without internet.

Unique Feature

Audio notes are embedded in the app that can convert the written information into an audio file as well as the adjustable font size which can be altered as per the user’s requirement.

Purpose

To provide all relevant information pertaining to the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, including its various acts, rules, regulations and guidelines, schemes, information about the various outreach institutions, employment opportunities, and the disability market in an accessible format.

The app ‘Divyang Sarathi’ is compliant with the principles of UNCRPD for Universal Access and the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. The Act mandates that all information to be made available in an accessible form. The application is also an integral part of the ICT component of the Accessible India Campaign launched by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 3rd December, 2015.

Mr. Gehlot said:

This mobile application is bound to empower the Divyangjans by providing easier and convenient access to information. They will be able to understand all details pertaining to the schemes, scholarships, statutes, institutional support systems and other relevant and crucial information at the click of a button.
