Recently, YouTube has made changes in its desktop & mobile application design. The new YouTube look also includes new YouTube Logo. They have made Logo for all kind of devices with different sizes – from desktops to phones, tablets to TVs, game consoles, and even VR headsets. So, no matter on which device you’re seeing the Logo, it always look clean. The updated Logo combines a cleaned up version of the YouTube wordmark and Icon.
New YouTube look for Desktop
The new look for desktop has impressive Material design and the interesting feature of this new web look is Dark Theme. You can switch between normal view and dark view anytime. If you haven’t applied new desktop YouTube look, you can visit youtube.com/new and activate the new look. Dark theme option is available under New Account Menu (accessible from user’s picture) in new look.

New look for App
As of May 2017, Android has two billion monthly active users. Most of YouTube users watch videos on YouTube app. That’s why, YouTube team focused more on app design in new YouTube look. YouTube mobile app also has new impressive features. They are as follows:
- Clean new design: Here, the header was made white to let content take the lead and moved the navigation tabs to the bottom of the app so they’re closer to users’ thumbs. New Library and Account tabs are also added so that you can easily access to what you’re looking for.
- Videos that move: Earlier this year, YouTube introduced a gesture that allows you to double tap on the left or right side of a video to fast forward or rewind 10 seconds. In the coming months, a new gesture feature will be added that lets you jump between videos with a simple swipe of your hand: just swipe left to watch a previous video or swipe right to watch the next one.
- Play on different speed: On desktop version (website) of the YouTube, you can increase or decrease the speed of the video. Now, this feature is also available in mobile app. Watch video at your preferable speed.
- Change shape according to video: YouTube videos are not bind to one size. Here, you can upload videos of any size. So, for better viewing experience; soon, the YouTube player will seamlessly change shape to match the video format user are watching, such as vertical, square or horizontal.
- Browse and discover while watching: In new YouTube look, video suggestion is now also available in full screen mode at the bottom of the screen in row format.
