New Facebook Job Hunting Feature Will Challenge LinkedIn & Indeed

Facebook will soon become pioneer in the job hunting sector, as it has rolled out its’ New Job Hiring Feature recently. In the latest update, Facebook will facilitate recruiters to post and hire directly through the platform instead of moving to other websites like LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.

In the new update, it’s easy for Page admins to create a job post, track applications and communicate directly with applicants. As of now, US and Canadian businesses can post jobs on their FB Page and job hunters can find job posts at facebook.com/jobs, or by visiting the jobs bookmark on desktop or mobile.

Presently, the new features are directed towards Small and Medium Industries (SMEs) that have the most difficulty in finding the right people, but now they will be able to reach a wider audience while hiring.

It must be noted that the posting a job is Free for employers or recruiters and there is no limit to how many posts a Page can have. The news is not so good for existing job platforms like Microsoft-owned LinkedIn, which charges recruiters to post and promote jobs on its platform.

How to Apply for Jobs on Facebook Platform

You can apply for open positions by clicking on the ‘Apple Now’ button on the page, then –

  1. You can view and apply jobs on a business’ page or in the new “jobs” tab on their profile.
  2. Interestingly, Facebook will auto fill some of the boxes in the job listing forms from your Facebook profile.
  3. Though, you will be allowed to edit and review the job application before submitting.
  4. Once you complete the job application, Facebook will create a chat on Messenger between you and the company. It’s that simple!

Other Updates

Facebook has also updated its’ news feed algorithm to actively curb the fake news trending in the social media and to promote the genuine, authentic and timely stories in your news feed.
