Reliance Jio – the pocket of surprises for us Indians, will soon launch Reliance Jio 4G VoLTE feature phone by late July / early August 2017 for 2G users and will also introduce its new mobile tariff plans.
As per The Economic Times, the Reliance Jio 4G VoLTE feature phone will come with a price tag of just 500. It is expected that in the first phase, around 10-11 lakhs phones would come to the market.
Rajiv Sharma, HSBC director and telecoms analyst, said
Jio is likely to price its 4G feature phone at a paltry 500 (sub-$8) to lure 2G subscribers to directly switch to 4G, which implies Jio subsidising each handset by as much as $10-15 ( 650-975).
It must be noted that Jio is the only operator that runs a 4G VoLTE network, while its rivals such as Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular are running trials on VoLTE and are yet to begin commercial launch.
As per rumors, the Jio 4G feature phones are expected to come with –
- 2.4-inch display
- 512MB RAM
- 4GB internal storage
- microSD card support

The phone is expected to sport a 2-megapixel rear camera & VGA front camera. The devices are expected to be WiFi enabled and come with Near Field Communications (NFC) technology, which will help the user to make digital transactions too. Voice calls and SMSs are also expected to be free with the device.
As per Financial Express, Reliance Jio has already tested the 4G feature phone at its facilities in Chennai and some other centres.
Apart from 4G VoLTE feature phone, Reliance Jio will soon give us gift of surprises in broadband sector too.
On this Deepavali, Reliance JioFiber may offer 100GB of data at 500 and will also introduce other plans as well to lure us.

Customers who don’t have 4G smartphone, can also use Jio’s 4G with Reliance JioFi.
- JioFi comes with 100% cashback & exchange offer on existing dongles / hotspots. Customers will also get the 4G data worth 2010 against the device exchanged.
- Customer who don’t have old dongles / hotspots can purchase new JioFi at 1,999 and after first mandatory recharge of 408, customer will get free 4G data worth 1,005.
