Sexual Harassment electronic-Box (SHe-Box): If you are facing sexual harassment at work place then SHe-Box shall ease the process of registering complaints and ensure speedier remedies.
This online complaint system SHe-Box has been launched by Maneka Gandhi, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development (WCD), in New Delhi on July 24, 2017 with slogan “A safe workplace is every women’s right”.
[UPDATE 07-Nov]: Now, SHe-Box for Private Sectors too.

Who can file complaint through She-Box?
- Any woman who has faced or is facing sexual harassment while working with Central Government (in any capacity whatsoever) or visiting any office of Central Government (such as Central Ministries, Departments, Public Sector Undertakings, Autonomous Bodies & Institutions, etc) may lodge her complaint through internet facility.
- [UPDATE 07-Nov]: She-Box is now applicable in private sectors too.

How to file complaint through SHe-Box?
- Portal: Before filing a complaint, you must have a valid email id and mobile number. Then, open SHe-Box portal. Now, click on Register Your Complaint tab.
- Category: Choose the Category to which you belong:
- Government Employees
- Private Employees
- In case you are Government Employee, select whether you are working with:
- Central Government
- State Government
- Mandatory: Fill the mandatory fields [such as name, designation, mobile number, email address, Aadhaar number, Ministry/Department (where you work), name and designation of the accused/respondent (against whom complaint is being made), complainant’s working relationship with accused/respondent along with brief description of the incident(s), for govt. employees] and click on Submit button.
- What happen when a complaint is already filed? In case, the complaint is already filed, you can attach a copy of the same in PDF format up to 5 MB on the SHe-Box.
- Confirmation Message: Once a complaint is submitted, an automatically generated email with User ID and Complaint Number will be sent to complainant’s Email ID along with a link to generate password. With the User ID and password (by clicking on the link sent with account activation email), the complainant can view the status of her complaint.
Note: At a given time, complaint can be made against more than one accused/respondent by naming all the accused/respondents in the Name(s) of the accused/respondent column and separating them through comma (,).

How to view status of complaint?
You can view the status of your filed complaint any time by pressing the tab View Status of Complaint within SHe-Box.
After registration of complaint, what will happen ?
- Once a complaint is submitted to the portal, it will directly send the complaint to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the concerned Ministry / Department / PSU / Autonomous Body, etc. having jurisdiction to inquire into the complaint.
- The ICC will take action as prescribed under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (SH Act) and update the status of the complaint through Administrator Login.
Note: According to data shared by the WCD ministry, Government of India (GoI) is the largest employer in the country employing 30.87 lakh people to carry out its various functions. As per the Census 2011, women constitute 10.93% (3.37 lakhs) of the total regular Central Government employees.
