On Monday 10 July 2017, Twitter unveiled a new set of notifications called Advanced Filter Settings for its users. These options will prevent users from online harassment and abuse & allow users to mute notifications from accounts (as well as new accounts) that don’t follow them and also block any user that they do not follow.
Users might receive notifications from certain types of accounts they would like to avoid. In addition to enabling the quality filter, Twitter users can now disable notifications from the following types of accounts using the new options in the Advanced Filter Settings:
- Accounts that are new (that you don’t follow).
- Accounts that don’t follow you (that you don’t follow).
- Accounts you don’t follow.
- Accounts with a default profile photo (that you don’t follow).
- Accounts without a confirmed email address (that you don’t follow).
- Accounts without a confirmed phone number (that you don’t follow).
